How to Achieve Long Term Sustainable Weight Loss
September 6, 2024
By Claire JonesIt’s natural when you’ve decided you want to lose weight, to want to just get on with it.
And you get caught up with the next shiny object promising you X number of pounds or dress sizes in X number of days or weeks.
But in doing so you can actually end up making the problem worse, as you ask almost the impossible of yourself.
If your eating habits are chaotic or you’re regularly overeating and you don’t actually know how maintain your weight, how are you actually going to be consistently in a calorie deficit?
So you give it your best, following your plan, but chuck in the towel when it gets too difficult, which it always does at some point. Maybe you get ill, or injured, or have some kind of emergency or crisis, and your carefully constructed regime that you had to force yourself to do with every ounce of discipline and willpower is shattered and you end up right back where you started.
Am I right?
I know I am because that used to be me too. Losing weight, gaining it back, losing it again, gaining it all back again, plus more.
I’m known for my straight talking and for being a realist, so let’s get real for a moment.
If it hasn’t worked for you long term before then what makes you think doing this approach again is going to work in the future?
I realised after 25 years of yo yo dieting that I needed to do something different, and when I did, everything changed and I unlocked the door to a new life, full of vitality, energy, and freedom from struggling with my weight. It’s been 13 years now!

If the above sounds like a familiar story to you, I’d urge you to stop focusing for a little while on trying to lose weight, and instead focus on how to eat to support your health – giving your body and mind what they need.
Then you will be on a much more stable platform from which to be able to move yourself into a calorie deficit with ease.
When my clients come to me their eating habits are often all over the place, they’re stuck in a boom and bust cycle of restricting all week and overeating at the weekends, and getting nowhere towards their weight loss goals, and often going backwards.
The guilt and the shame and the loathing have kicked in and their self esteem is through the floor.
But it really doesn’t have to be like this, as they discovered when they came across my approach, and it doesn’t have to be like this for you either.
When we work together we figure out on an individual basis how to create stability and change your attitude towards food, weight and yourself, reducing the conflict you feel, learning how to treat yourself with kindness and compassion, and clearing the way to long term sustainable weight loss.
It requires patience, but it’s time very well spent as gives you everything you need to manage yourself around food for life, being able to enjoy it but without it getting in the way of your goals.
If you know this is your struggle too and you need help to figure it out, book a free chat with me to explore your options.
All options involve personal 1:1 support bespoke to you, and prices start at just £39 per month.
