Many people struggle to lose weight effectively and keep it off because they don’t prepare themselves properly.

Losing weight is one of the most difficult things to do, because you are not designed to lose it voluntarily, so when you try you are going into battle with yourself.

Not only that, food is so much more than just fuel; it’s social, it’s comfort, it’s soothing, it’s delicious, it’s pleasurable, and we develop strong habits and associations with it, leading to emotional eating.

Those people who don’t put on weight easily, or lose it easily, would not do so well in times of famine.

But unfortunately, the world you are living in is far from ideal for how you are designed, and food is far from scarce.

Much of it is ultra-tasty, ultra high-calorie, ultra-processed and more-ish. It’s available 24/7 and in larger portions than ever before.

When you are feeling tired, stressed, sad or even celebrating, it’s all too easy to over-eat, or potentially even develop disordered eating patterns.

It’s no wonder then that you find it so hard. It’s not your fault. 

But the problem is, all these ways of overeating are harmful to your physical and mental health, both now and in the future.

You are unhappy with how your weight makes you feel physically and mentally and you may be worried about what the future holds.

You wish you could do something about it, that does not have to mean going into battle with yourself so that you can sustain your efforts.

So if you want to lose weight, without having to give up your favourite foods, or do things you hate, or repeat the mistakes of the past, there is some work to be done. But not on your body. You need to harness the power of your MIND. Then the changes to your body will become so much easier to make and to sustain.

Hard things require a comprehensive, thorough approach and that includes sufficient preparation time.

You may think you are preparing well, but it might perhaps only be the practical preparations like shopping and clearing out the cupboards.

But if you don’t do enough of the mental preparations, like understanding the true reasons why you want to do it, understanding what is driving your behaviour, or how you will realistically (not idealistically) manage difficult situations, then you will be setting yourself up to fail…. again.

Not only that, the statistics on weight regain after losing it are very worrying.  Some studies cite between 80 and 95% of people will regain it, and some may gain even more than they have lost.

Losing weight is more complex than we are led to believe. It’s not just a case of ‘eat less, move more’. If it was, people wouldn’t find it so hard.

According to an article in Scientific American*, “roughly 80% of people who shed a significant portion of their body fat will not maintain that degree of weight loss for 12 months. Scientists at UCLA revealed that one to two thirds of dieters regained more weight than they lost on their diets”.

This is due to the reasons I have outlined above.

We are hard wired to overeat, and when we are not paying attention it’s so easy to do. It doesn’t even need to be by very much to have a gradual impact on our waistlines, something that is very common as we get older.

Not only that, it becomes harder to lose it… but not impossible!

By harnessing the incredible power of your mind, by changing the way you think, feel and behave, and also by making changes in your environment, you CAN succeed where previously you have not.

Psychology Today** states that “thankfully, experts have identified the key cognitive, behavioural and external factors involved in changing behaviours, and maintaining behavioural changes over time, and in different contexts. The three main ingredients of the psychology of behaviour change are self-regulation, motivation, and habits.”

What happens after you join the Do-It Yourself Version?

  • You will be invited to join the very friendly and supportive, private facebook group, exclusively for Programme participants.

What happens after you join the 1:1 With Claire Version?

  • If you haven’t already had a chat with Claire before signing up, Claire will send you an invitation to have a free chat to go through what’s involved to make sure it’s suitable for you, and book your 1:1 sessions.
  • You will also need to complete the pre-programme assessment form. Claire will send this to you.

  • Do it at your own pace, watching the pre-recorded videos and get support from me via the dedicated Facebook Group exclusively for programme participants (best value at just £29). If you want more personal support from me you can also join my Accountability Club while you do it.

  • Wait for the next live group programme to start (they are run 1-3 times a year, and costs £149 per person)

I’m confused about whether I should do the Programme or join your Accountability Club? What do you recommend?

1:1 With Claire Version

If you are doing the 1:1 With Claire Version, you will be given complimentary Accountability Club membership at Silver level for the agreed duration of your Programme.

Do-it-Yourself Version

If you are doing the Do-It-Yourself Version, I recommend that you start with the Programme, and then either alongside or afterwards join the Accountability Club to support implementation of what you learn on the Programme. 

There are different levels of Club membership to suit different budgets and levels of support needed and you can move up and down between them as needed. It’s a monthly subscription which you can cancel at any time. 

If you think you’d need some extra support to stick to the Programme then you are better off joining the Club at the same time.

If you think you will be ok at sticking to it, you can join it afterwards when you’re ready to implement what you learned on the Programme.

You can also just do the Programme, but that means you will need to push yourself to follow and implement it on your own, and we all know how easy it is to let things drift if we haven’t got someone to hold us to account. 

How long the Programme takes is up to you, but I recommend taking 4-8 weeks to do it. Too quickly and you won’t learn and too long and you will lose momentum. 

That doesn’t mean you can’t make any changes in the meantime. You will find you naturally start to change as you go through the Programme, then at the end of the Programme you will be clear about your way forward for the longer term.
