Who’s on YOUR weight loss support team?
January 14, 2022
One of the most important things to do when managing your weight is to have the right team of people to support you. Who’s on YOUR weight loss support team?
One thing that I’ve been struck by lately as I’ve been developing my business is that I can’t do it all by myself. Last summer I realised that all the time I was trying to do everything myself, all I was doing was getting more stressed, tired and burned out.
Getting help with various things has transformed how I work, and not only that, I have regained that belief in myself that I can do this, when last summer I was at the point of giving up, as my keen desire to help others was actually making ME ill. You really can’t pour from an empty cup.
Once I made that decision to get more help, everything changed, virtually overnight. My business continues to grow, and to reach and help more people, every day, as a result of consistent action, which I am now able to take because I’m supported in the right way. I’m supported in the right way by a great team of people around me, a team that continues to grow.
The same is true for anything that we are trying to do in life. The people who are most successful at anything are the people who build the right team around them, people who can lift them up, support them, help them to do things, especially at times when it’s really hard, so they can maintain the consistent action that is needed to achieve results.
Thinking about my own weight loss journey, I didn’t do it all by myself. I had lots of help over the years from various different people, including those who are close to me such as my family and friends, but also professional help.
I also made sure that those around me knew what I was trying to do and how serious I really was about it, and how important it was to me, so that they could support me at the times when I really needed it the most.
So when it comes to managing YOUR weight, are you trying to do it all by yourself, and getting fed up and stressed out and losing belief that you can ever do it?
Or are you looking to see who you can have on your team to help you get the results that you know that you deserve?
Are you talking to those close to you, and making sure that they really know how important this is to you?
Do they know that the times when you’re having a wobble are the times when you really need them to be able to step in and lift you back up, and not tempt you with takeaways and other things that will take you back to where you were and not where you want to be?
Do they know that, whilst in the moment, those things may make you feel better, they are actually not going to help you in the long run?
Tell them what this really means to you.
Get help from others outside your immediate circle whether that be informally or formally.
Build a formidable team around you that you can rely on when it feels too hard to rely on just yourself. It’s one of the best weight loss resources you can have!
Losing weight is one of the hardest things to do, for most people who struggle with their weight, so there is absolutely no shame whatsoever in asking for, and getting, help.
