If I can cut my hair short, you can lose weight!
January 21, 2022
If you think you can’t lose weight, think again.
I had my hair cut short this morning!
In a sudden moment of clarity 2 weeks ago I realised that having long hair was weighing me down too much, as I didn’t have the time or inclination to do anything with it, and all it was doing was dragging me down. I am also not sure that it ever really suited me that well. So I made the decision, sat on it for 2 weeks to make sure I was sure, and just got it done. I feel so liberated! It’s been over 20 years!
My husband has been very supportive as he’s never seen me with short hair so it will take him a bit of getting used to but he’s going with it. Obviously I discussed it with him first.
The great thing is I can always grow it again whenever I want to.
For the first time in I don’t know how long, there’s no colour on it so I’m just going to enjoy that for a little while. Check out the little grey splodge!
I will be sending my hair to the Little Princesses charity in case they can make use of it.
Thank you to Gillian Smissen my wonderful stylist. We are going to have some fun with my hair this year so watch this space!
But what’s this got to do with weight loss, you might ask?
Well it’s all about making changes, and realising that YOU CAN actually do it. Change can be scary, but it can also be exciting. First though, we have to recognise what’s holding us back. For over 20 years I had never accepted the idea of having my hair cut short, as it was too big a change and so I never entertained the possibility.
Yet I still put up with all the inconveniences and pressure that went with it, as I didn’t believe there was an alternative. Then suddenly, as I was washing my hair one day 2 weeks ago, it suddenly hit me that it had to go, as it was not serving me in any way, and was just literally weighing me down.
But in that moment of clarity I asked myself, “why NOT cut my hair?”, and it suddenly became possible. My own beliefs had been holding me back. Once I became aware of this, I was able to take action.
If you are trying to lose weight and have a belief that you can’t do it, or can’t make the changes you need to make, then you will always get in your own way. So make sure you challenge your beliefs, and you will find that where you thought you can’t, you CAN.
