This Workshop is For Riders Who Want to Learn How to Safely Pick Up Their Bike if They Drop It

What to Expect

There is no riding involved. We’ll start with a short classroom session, then move into practical work, including:

  • Understanding why bikes get dropped (and why it’s more common than you think)
  • How hesitation and pressure play into it and how dropping a bike makes you feel.
  • Manual handling
  • Safe, controlled practice picking bikes up in a supportive environment

There’s no pressure to perform and no judgment. You’ll work at your own pace throughout.

What to Bring

You do NOT need to wear riding gear as there is no riding involved. Please wear:

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for movement
  • Sturdy footwear (recommended)
  • Gloves (recommended)
  • Waterproofs in case of rain

You do not need to bring your own bike.

But if you ARE bringing your own bike, and wish to use it for the practical exercises:

  • It must be in safe, working condition
  • You use it at your own risk
  • We may advise using training bikes for certain exercises

Important Information

  • This workshop involves manual handling and physical activity
  • You can opt out of any exercise at any time and simply observe
  • Please follow all instructions given on the day for your safety

Filming

Parts of the workshop may be filmed for future promotion and to support our partners.

You’ll be asked to confirm consent. If you’d prefer not to be filmed, that’s absolutely fine – just let us know.

Before You Attend

You will be asked to complete

  • a participant waiver
  • a readiness for physical activity form for the practical work –
  • a consent form to have your photo taken/be filmed (you can opt out)

Bring these with you, or complete them in advance if submitted digitally.
