Why This Workshop Exists

Dropping a bike, or even worrying about dropping one, affects far more than just the bike itself.

It affects confidence.
It creates tension.
It influences decision-making.
It affects enjoyment.
Sometimes even whether riders continue riding at all.

That’s exactly why these workshops were created.

The Basic Biker, a Facebook personality with decades of riding and teaching experience within the motorcycle industry, recently shared the workshop and said:

“This will almost certainly create a shift in motorcycle training… Addressing the rider’s mindset can change everything.”

And that’s exactly the point.

This workshop is designed to help riders understand both the psychological and practical side of bike drops in a supportive, non-judgemental environment.

This Workshop Is Ideal For:

  • Riders who worry about dropping their bike during slow manoeuvres, parking or uneven ground
  • Riders who have already dropped a bike and noticed it affecting their confidence afterwards
  • New, returning or nervous riders who want more practical experience handling bikes safely

What You’ll Learn

In partnership with ApexMCT Motorcycle Training, we’ll help riders:

  • Understand why drops happen
  • Learn safe lifting and manual handling techniques
  • Reduce fear through repetition and experience
  • Build confidence instead of avoidance
  • Better understand the psychological impact of drops and near misses
  • Explore ways to continue improving slow riding confidence afterwards

Practical Experience

This is not just watching someone demonstrate techniques on YouTube.

You’ll get supervised practical experience handling and picking up:

  • Mopeds
  • 125s
  • 650s

There is no riding involved.

The session starts with a short classroom discussion before moving into practical exercises outside.

You’ll work entirely at your own pace and can opt out of any activity if preferred.

Observation-only participation is absolutely fine if you prefer.

What To Wear / Bring

You do NOT need to wear motorcycle gear.

Please wear:

✔ Comfortable clothing suitable for movement
✔ Sturdy footwear (recommended)
✔ Gloves (recommended)
✔ Waterproofs in case of rain

You are welcome to bring a drink and snack for the short break midway through the session.

You do not need to bring your own bike.

However, if you wish to use your own motorcycle during practical lifting exercises and this has been agreed beforehand:

• It must be roadworthy and in safe working condition
• You do so entirely at your own risk
• We may still advise using training bikes for some exercises
